A Different Kind of Coach

Thinking clearly when things feel complex

I have spent most of my working life helping people and organisations make sense of complexity.

Sometimes that has been inside large businesses building brands, launching products, turning around categories that were failing and creating growth where others could not see it. Sometimes it has been sitting with someone who just knows something needs to change but cannot quite see what, or how.

What links it all is genuine curiosity. I find people endlessly fascinating their patterns, their stories, the gap between who they think they are and who they actually are.

I can be as surprised as my clients on the journey. And I think that is a good thing.

My background

business coach

Over thirty years across real businesses on brands, strategy, product innovation, turnarounds. I changed UK law which got braille on medicine packaging, working alone on it for two years before anyone knew. Got Blu-Tack in the Guiness book of records, published in 100 countries with a £10K budget.

I’ve consulted, advised, built things, fixed things, and learned the hard way what actually works in business and in life.

But my background isn’t just professional. I’ve lived an unconventional, very full life across martial arts, activism, creativity, and more directions than most people attempt. I’ve rebuilt more than once. I know what it feels like to start over.

My core drivers are creativity, discovery and fun. Those aren’t just words, they show up in every session.

Clients often tell me I bring a rare combination of strategic thinking, emotional intelligence and calm clarity with the ability to zoom out, see the whole picture, and then break things down into grounded, practical next steps.

How I work

I am trained in a structured coaching approach.  We usually start with what you want to achieve and work from there. But I do not arrive with a toolkit and work through it methodically. Coaching is not always linear, and the tangents are usually where the interesting stuff lives. We come back to where we were, often seeing it completely differently.

I ask questions that make you think. Not because I have an agenda, but because I am genuinely curious about what is really going on for you. The insight is always yours, I just ask the right thing at the right moment.

I have bags of tools, resources and strategies and I use them. But I have learned that tactics without foundations rarely stick. If someone wants to run every morning, I might help them build that habit. Or we might find that what is really in the way has nothing to do with running at all. Get to the root and the running tends to sort itself.

This is why I call it transformation rather than coaching. Once the foundations are solid, the specific things you wanted tend to follow naturally.

It is the same principle I applied in business for thirty years. Get the strategy right and the tactics become obvious. Come up with tactics first and you never really know why you are doing them.

Sessions are often fun. Sometimes exhilarating. People do not always expect that.

What people come to me for

People usually come to me when they are:

  • At a crossroads

  • Feeling stuck or restless

  • Leading something complex and carrying a lot alone

  • Wanting clarity without hype or pressure

  • Ready to think properly, not just react

Some are navigating life transitions.
Some are building or reshaping businesses.
Many are doing both at the same time.

My role is to help you slow things down just enough to see clearly and then move forward with purpose.

Who I work best with

People who think differently. Who go deep. Who have never quite fitted the standard mould but have achieved things anyway, often despite the system rather than because of it.

High achievers who feel like frauds. People in transition. Neurodivergent minds. People rebuilding after something fell apart. Creatives, entrepreneurs, activists, people who are quietly aware there is more but can’t see it yet.

My pioneer nature means I’m drawn to people who want to do things differently not just replicate what everyone else is doing.

A note on values

I’m values led in how I work and who I choose to work with.

Honesty, kindness and integrity matter to me.
So does curiosity, creativity and doing work that feels meaningful not extractive or purely driven by ego or excess.

I work best with people and organisations who care about how they operate in the world, not just what they extract from it.

If you're wondering whether this is right for you

You don’t need to have everything figured out.
You don’t need a perfect plan.

You just need a sense that something needs attention and a willingness to look at it properly.

If that’s where you are, we can start there.
